It all begins with an idea.

The Hot Room Leadership Institute provides opportunities for dedicated practitioners to be trained to teach the modalities offered at The Hot Room, gain a deeper understanding of their personal yoga practice and cultivate the skills to be a powerful leader in their community.

As first-generation immigrants, Founders Hye Jin & Ashish Kalgaonkar recognize the lack of inclusivity and accessibility for people of color in the yoga community. In order to continue to foster a diverse environment and with the acknowledgement that representation matters, they are very proud to announce the Breathe Foundation Scholarship for Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC).

This full and partial scholarship opportunity is open to any self-identified BIPOC who would like to deepen their yoga practice and gain the skills necessary to lead inspiring and powerful classes in their community.

“LEADERSHIP. That word I have always heard but never quite understood until recently. I realized that leadership really starts with me being able to lead myself, It starts with being an example, and helping those that ask, but only after actually knowing how to help myself. “

“My practice restores peace to overcome challenging moments in my life. It helps me to meditate and focus, to calm my mind, and to live in the moment and not the future or the past. This practice has brought such joy to my spirit and has given me clarity of purpose; which is to live a life in which I can pour into others.”

“This training has challenged me to think about my way of being. I’ve been in inquiry about areas in my life where I might be inhibited or challenged and how I show up in the world. While yoga may seem to start on my mat, it is everywhere: my breath, my mindset, my ability to connect with others, and my ability to connect with myself. “

“The aspect I love about the Hot Room the most is its diversity compared to the majority of yoga studios throughout the country. In my first official class as a student in the Hot Room, for the first time, I wasn’t the only BIPOC in the room, something I had been at every other yoga studio I had ever been to. There is a very obvious lack of diversity in the yoga world and I want to be a proactive part of changing that. “

“Whether it be in school or on my mat, I am constantly using my yoga to face everyday challenges. It has taught me patience, resilience, and most importantly to stay focused in the moment. As an aspiring physician, I believe this program will give me the tools necessary to strengthen my skills as a leader and caregiver.”
